Private Couples Sessions

If you are considering getting help as a couple, I offer comprehensive feedback and treatment recommendations.

Spots are limited. Your customized program will deliver at a level where traditional counseling leaves gaps. 

The process begins with a thorough assessment, which costs $900 and includes several components. Here is what you can expect: 

• Before we meet, you will complete an online assessment through the Gottman Institute, and the results will be sent to me.
• We will meet for 3 hours in person or over Zoom. During this time, I will meet with you together and individually. 
• That will be followed by a one-hour follow-up appointment, during which I will review The Gottman Institute's findings, share my understanding of your situation, and make recommendations from our interview. You will get a copy of both of these reports. 
• At this time, you can decide if you want to move forward with the recommendations.  

Here are some of the highlights of what you get if you work with me:

• A Thorough Assessment. Rather than gradually getting to understand your relationship throughout several sessions, we start with a comprehensive assessment of your relationship. 
• A Plan that Delivers Results.   I  know when you come to see me, you want a new result.  That is why I do not simply provide treatment as a session-to-session offering. Creating change is a process. I work with couples who are in it to win it, not just settle a crisis. I ask my couples to commit to the process so I can give them all the tools they need to succeed. My clients don't just schedule appointments indefinitely.  When we decide to work together, we create a plan so that we are all on the same page. We know where we are going, and I show you how to get there. 
• Plenty of Time. Many years ago, I quit using the traditional 50-minute session with my couples.  It just wasn't cutting it. I don't think shoving couples' treatment into a model designed for individual treatment works. It was just enough time to open a can of worms, and everyone left mad and disappointed that "therapy does not help."  And in most cases, it wasn't helping. Now, when I see my clients we always have plenty of time to finish what we started.  My joint sessions are 90 minutes, which I find to be perfect.
• Support Beyond the Appointments. I knew my clients needed more critical support between sessions, so I created The Couples Vault, a place for courses, worksheets, and assignments to do together.

The cost of marital therapy is exponentially cheaper than the cost of a divorce and often does not exceed the national average cost of a family summer vacation.

While you may feel this is an expense you cannot afford, I can't think of a more worthy investment than your marriage and the resulting peace, joy, and clarity. The skills you develop to manage your mind, process emotion, and get results in your marriage will be the same skills you use to uplevel so many other areas of your life.

• Up to 4 hours of face-to-face time scheduled in two appointments (interview and feedback session)
• Access to online Gottman Relationship Assessment  (on your own approximately takes 1 hour)
• Relationship summary session (1 hour)
• Copy of Goals and treatment recommendation

  
Couples who show up for the appointments and do the work show a substantial increase in relationship satisfaction.
